The first scarf woven is always a sampler. Blocks of colors are woven, using from 10 - 12 different colors of yarn.

When the sampler is finished, I unwind it and look at the results. Which weft colors do I like the best? Which are the most exciting? I then choose the colors that will be the basis for the remaining eight scarves. All this results in every piece being "one-of-a-kind."

(The sampler also becomes a scarf, and is always a favorite.)
